Instructor Avril Wilson

Born in Edinburgh Avril studied Photography at Plymouth College of Art where she achived the College Diploma, BIIP Diploma and a City and Guilds Advanced Certificate in Photography. Avril worked for many years in Natural History Photography and film making. Many of her photos have been published in books and magazines and she still writes articles for magazines which she illustrates with her own photos. In 1985 she won the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Other Animals Catogary with a photograph of a Dolomedes spider catching a fish. In 2000 one of her photographs of a Barn Owl was used as a second class Millenium stamp by the Royal Mail. Avril is the proud owner of two beautiful Arab horses Oshe and her daughter Serenity whom Avril bred. When she is not working, photographing these beauties and riding are her main hobbies.
